FAQ
Find answers to common questions about therapy, counseling, mental health services, and booking at Ahana Wellness. Clear, helpful info to guide your wellness journey in Chennai.
Therapy is a structured process where you work with a trained mental health professional to explore your thoughts, emotions, and behaviours. It provides a safe space to understand yourself better, develop coping strategies, and work toward emotional well-being.
Yes. Counselling usually focuses on specific, short-term concerns, while therapy often involves deeper exploration of emotional patterns and long-standing issues. However, both aim to support psychological growth and well-being.
Each session typically lasts 45 to 60 minutes.
The first session helps us understand the concerns that brought you in and identify areas that may need deeper exploration. Based on this, we create an assessment plan that guides the therapy process.
Assessments are not mandatory but are highly recommended. They give us a clearer understanding of your concerns, help identify underlying patterns, and provide baseline data. This ensures that the therapy process is focused and effective. Without assessments, therapy may take longer to reach the same depth.
This varies depending on the nature and extent of your difficulties. Some clients benefit from short-term work, while others may require longer-term support. Your therapist will discuss this with you as the process unfolds.
Yes, all sessions are confidential. The only exception is when there is a risk of serious harm to yourself or someone else, in which case we are ethically and legally required to take necessary steps to ensure safety.
Apart from the clinic’s contact number, your therapist will share an emergency contact number for urgent support. You can also reach out to national helplines such as:
• iCall: 9152987821
• Vandrevala Foundation: 1860 2662 345 / 9999 666 555
• Snehi: +91-22-2770 0700
Appointments can be cancelled or rescheduled with at least 24 hours’ notice. We understand that emergencies and unexpected situations can arise, and in such cases, exceptions will always be considered. For cancellations made less than 24 hours in advance (that are not due to emergencies), the full session fee may be charged. This is because each time slot is reserved especially for you, and short-notice changes make it difficult to offer that time to someone else who may be waiting. Repeated cancellations are discouraged.
